The Baxe Story
Back in the 1900s, imported axes met Australian hardwood… and lost. Our trees are bloody tough, so blacksmiths and timber workers adapted the shape and grind until the Tasmanian pattern was born.
After restoring well over 150 vintage Tassie axes myself, I’ve built a real respect for the history and design behind them. That’s what led me to develop my own handle — shaped specifically to suit the Tassie pattern and crafted from locally sourced, native Australian Spotted Gum.
Along this journey, I've been surrounded by people passionate about the craft — the kind who’ve kept this culture alive through work, competition and plenty of long phone calls.
Who would have thought that restoring a vintage Kelly Dandeong one day, would have evolved into Outbaxe
